The Board of Regents is comprised of 19 residents of the State of Utah. 15 members are appointed by the governor with the consent of the Senate. Each voting member of the State Board of Regents is appointed by the Governor to serve a six-year term, with the exception of the Student Regent, who serves a one-year term. In addition, two members of the State Board of Education and one member of the UCAT Board of Trustees are appointed by their respective chairs to serve as non-voting members of the State Board of Regents without a set term (Utah Code Annotated 53B-1-104).
