Check out events commemorating Martin Luther King, Jr. across the state
College and University campuses across the state are engaging in community events to commemorate Martin Luther King, Jr.:
- University of Utah and Westminster College are doing a commemoration walk from Sugarhouse Park to Presidents Circle at the U of U.
- Utah Valley University began their commemoration with a keynote speech from Cheryl and Linda Brown, whose father, Oliver L. Brown along with 12 other families was a plaintiff in defining court decision of the civil rights era – Brown v. Board of Education.
- Weber State University is holding a “Munch & March” on Monday, January 18th at 10 a.m. in Marshall White Center.
- Brigham Young University is holding its “Walk of Life” processional and service project co-sponsored by their Center for Service and Learning and their Multicultural Student Services.
- Utah State University held a candlelight vigil on January 13 in which France A. Davis, Pastor at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and State Regent, was a speaker, who marched with King in 1965.
