And the people began to be distinguished by ranks, according to their riches and their chances for learning; yea, some were ignorant because of their poverty, and others did receive great learning because of their riches.

This is how many of the people are starting to feel each time you raise the tuition of the states univ. and colleges. It is getting difficult to pay for college so that i can get an education.

WE live in Preston, Idaho which is 6 miles from the border of Utah. My husband works in Utah, and we pay Utah tax. Our children are attending Utah State, and we have been approached, and have donated to the Utah State Library. Our daughter received a 100 mile radius to attend Utah State her first year. She is now working in Utah, and will obtain a Utah Drivers LIcense. But this declaring financial independence through federal tax is something of a concern. She really did not make enough money in 2011 to file taxes, getting little to nothing back. But learned from Utah State and Fafsa she needs her parents taxes to help with fafsa for pell grants. WE help pay for her, and in 2011 she was still in HIgh School, thus we payed for her financial support. Now we are told we cannot claim her on our taxes, so she can declare finaincial independence? She is dependent on us because she needs our tax information, and continues to receive support, and health insurance from us. I think your law needs to be changed, or readjusted. It does not make sense. We support Utah by shopping there, and working there. You need to be more generous with those who help you out. At least some kind of compromise. If she needs financial indpendence, than you don't need our tax information.

I have been in the higher education system now for 3 years and 7 months and these two days could be the most productive two days I have enjoyed in relationship to addressing Big Goal #2 "Increase the rate of student completion in their chosen field of study." Our committee from Dixie State College worked hard for two days and I believe we have a very practical and reasonable plan to address Big Goal #2.

Thank you for the time away and putting on such a great academy.
