Commissioner Sederburg’s top highlights of 2011
In this video, Commissioner Sederburg offers his insight into what he sees as the top five 2011 highlights for the Utah System of Higher Education. One of the main themes throughout these highlights is promoting the importance of not only attending, but also finishing college. Higher education efforts for 2011 brought collaborations between a number of state government, business an educational entities in order to help Utah reach the “big goal” of having 2/3 of the state’s population with a postsecondary certificate or degree by the year 2020. Additionally, efforts to promote Utah’s college and universities to students while preparing them for higher education, were successful in 2011. Sederburg sees these successes to continue into the coming years.
Here’s how the Commissioner’s 2011 highlight list shakes out:
5. Launch of the StepUpUtah campaign to promote colleges and universities throughout the state and align with the efforts of Prosperity 2020 business leaders
4. Continued success of UtahFutures to prepare students for college, while also aligning career and education options culminating in over 4 million monthly hits
3. System-wide enrollment increases for fourth year in a row
2. Reports show the Utah System of Higher Education is one of the most efficient systems in the nation
1. Adoption of the Governor’s “big goal” for higher ed, including creation of the Women’s College Task Force
Congratulations on another exciting year for higher education in Utah!
