ESEA –Standards and Assessments
Yesterday in the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee the ESA REauthorization was discussed. Chairman Tom Harkin stressed the need for high standards. Dr. Cynthia Schmeiser of ACT reported to the committee that college readiness and career readiness are the same. The definition that the National Assocation of State Directors of Career and Technical Education have a slightly different view. Although some of the requirements are the same a do overlap, to be “Career Ready” requires additional skill in order to enter the workforce.
