Rigorous Programs of Study for Career and Technical Education
Utah is one of six states in the nation to participate in a Rigorous Programs of Study grant project funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Vocational and Adult Education (OVAE). The project is designed to enhance career and technical education offerings and develop a data set that can be shared nationally to inform the characteristics of quality CTE programs. Utah’s project focuses on health care with Weber State University, Salt Lake Community College, and Utah State University-College of Eastern Utah as partners with local school districts. The Association for Career and Technical Education dedicated its January 2012 edition of Techniques; Connecting Education and Careers to the Programs of Study concept. In designing programs of study, OVAE has developed ten framework items that guide what goes into a quality program. To learn more about these ten elements and how the Programs of Study concept can benefit the development and delivery of quality CTE programming click on the following link: http://bluetoad.com/publication/?i=92674.
