(Brian Maffly, Salt Lake Tribune) –Salt Lake Community College remains the nation’s fourth most productive two-year college in terms of the number of associate’s degrees awarded, according to an analysis published Monday in Community College Week. The school awarded 3,384 degrees in 2009-10, pegging it behind only Florida’s Valencia Community College, Northern Virginia Community College and California’s San Juaquin Delta Community College.
This year, the college awarded 3,398 associate’s degrees, up from 2,902 three years before, according to data compiled by the Utah System of Higher Education. It is responsible for about third of the associate’s degrees awarded by public schools in Utah.
SLCC serves more than 30,000 students at 13 locations in the Salt Lake Valley, with a new campus envisioned undeveloped ground in Herriman.
