Students are Avoiding STEM
The number of students majoring in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) are declining. This situation is not new in the history of the United States. We have seen this type of headline before. What is new in the present “crisis” is that we are at a time when many current scientists, engineers, and mathematicians are retiring and leaving the field. Three ways to reverse this trend are described in a recent publication by Wayne D’Orio posted on the American Association of State Colleges and Universities Website.
