Federal Student Financial Aid Application Streamlined (The Washington Post)

“The federal government Tuesday morning rolled out a shorter, simpler financial aid application for needy students in an effort to reduce barriers to higher education,” The Washington Post reports. “Education Secretary Arne Duncan and Jill Biden, wife of the vice president, promoted the streamlined Free Application for Federal Student Aid in a swing Tuesday morning through Banneker High School in Northwest Washington.”

I Need that Money for School…and Fast.

There’s no doubt that getting the financial aid you applied for isn’t as quick and easy as withdrawing money from an ATM. However, that doesn’t mean that you should have to wait any longer than necessary.

It’s a FAFSA, not an AFSA

Applying for federal financial aid is free. However, there are several websites out there that will try and charge you a fee to fill out the FAFSA. Don’t let them fool you into paying money for an application that is free to the public.
