What to do in the impending summer months? Will you be taking on a job or two to earn the big bucks? Doing an internship? Or is this a summer to relax? A few months ago, when deciding what to do with some extra time, I had a difficult time settling on what I’d like to do. I had made pro and con lists, and each decision had good and bad points. I was approached by a friend who suggested I ask myself this question: “Which of the options would be more memorable? In a decade, will you still remember the experience or not?” She suggested I take to the route that would mean most to me throughout my life and that would be a memory to cherish.
Internships are extremely helpful in securing a future position at your desired place of employment. Fredonia.edu, reported that “on average, more than 50 percent of students are offered a full-time job after completing an internship.” Statistically, it is in your favor to complete an internship, particularly with the company where you see yourself in 10 or 20 years. The benefits of taking on an internship far outweigh reasons not to do an internship.

College is, for the majority of students, the first chance to make financial decisions on our own. Often, these decisions can have life-long impacts and can serve as a foundation for future, financial-related decisions. In other words, NOW is the best time to develop the right skills for a financially secure future.
