The next ten years: Changing demographics
Deseret News article highlighting the sweeping demographic changes that loom in the very near future. Quoting Dr. Pam Perlich, Senior Researcher at the University of Utah, the article reads:
“This fastest growing part of the state’s population, Perlich cautions, will put strains on our schools, which are already struggling to deal with higher minority drop-out rates and an achievement gap. Utah may want to rethink its unenviable position as last among the states in per-pupil spending.”
Dr. Perlich has shared her research numerous times with the Board of Regents and high school counselors. Her data plays a critical role in helping the Board and Presidents make long-term planning decisions.
