Update to HigherEdUtah2020 Plan Unveiled to Board of Regents

(Salt Lake City) — In 2010, a “big goal” was established for Utah: to have 66% of Utahns with a postsecondary degree or certificate by the year 2020. In order to help achieve this goal, the Commissioner of Higher Education created the higheredutah2020.org website as an online public hearing to gain input into the first version of the HigherEdUtah2020 Plan. Now a year later, the HigherEdUtah2020 Plan takes a new form as the latest action plan and progress report in the HigherEdUtah2020 Plan 2011 Report unveiled today to the Board of Regents.

“To reach our big goal,” said Commissioner Bill Sederburg, “We took last year’s Plan and narrowed 52 recommendations down into more specific initiatives. From there, we can prioritize resources to make the greatest impact on the future of higher education.” The report is broken down into three sections: Participation, Completion and Economic Innovation that come together in an action plan created by current initiatives and future initiatives.
