(Kevin Opsahl, Herald-Journal) — U.S. News and World Report’s listings of the best graduate schools show a Utah State University college ranked No. 24 in the country, moving the college up five places last year.

The Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services made the list for the best education schools in the 2013 “America’s Best Graduate Schools,” released this week.

This marks the 13th consecutive year the college has made it on the list, and as in last year’s rankings, is the only education program in Utah this year to secure a place in the top 50, according to a USU news release.

“For well over a decade now, our college has been singled out as one of the best schools of education on this prestigious list, and it is not an accomplishment we take lightly,” said Beth Foley, dean of the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services, in a prepared statement. “We will continue to work hard to make sure we remain a fixture on this list for years to come.”

USU also tied with University of Pittsburgh for the honor. According to the list of best education graduate schools, Vanderbilt came in at No. 1, while Harvard and University of Texas-Austin, came in at No. 2 and 3, respectively.

The College of Education and Human Services also improved its standing in terms of funded research in this year’s rankings, taking the No. 3 spot on the list, behind only University of Texas-Austin and Columbia University.
