Regents approve veterinary program at Utah State
HJNews – Utah State University should have a veterinary program, the Utah Board of Regents voted Thursday at their annual meeting.
Under the plan set out by USU, students could enroll in the new veterinary medical program that allows them to obtain a doctorate in veterinary medicine as soon as 2012.
The proposal will now go to the Utah Legislature in order to get funding now that the 18-member Board of Regents has approved the plan. USU is asking for $2.1 million from the state in the first year and $1.7 million in subsequent years, according to Utah’s commissioner of higher education, William A. Sederburg, in his report to the Regents.
